Tacx NEO 2T With Zwift Cog and Click Review

Tacx NEO 2T With Zwift Cog and Click Review: Easier Setup Is the Main Upgrade

Garmin’s latest Tacx NEO 2T package combines the established direct-drive trainer with a preinstalled Zwift Cog and Click controller, aiming to remove one of indoor cycling’s biggest frustrations: drivetrain setup.

What happened

The Cog replaces a conventional cassette and is designed to work with most 8- to 13-speed bicycles. Virtual shifting moves gear changes to the handlebar-mounted Click controller, while the trainer arrives ready for Zwift and ROUVY without extra calibration. Riders can also use the controls for menu navigation and selected in-app functions, reducing the need to reach for a keyboard or phone during a session.

Why it matters

This is primarily a convenience upgrade, not a complete reinvention of the trainer. Households that share one trainer across different bikes stand to benefit most because the Cog reduces cassette compatibility problems. Virtual shifting is also quieter and easier to configure than repeated mechanical changes. Riders committed to a traditional cassette or another training platform should confirm compatibility before paying for the bundle.

What to watch next

The buying decision should turn on ecosystem and bike sharing. Confirm axle support, platform features and whether every rider in the household is comfortable with virtual shifting. Long-term value will depend on software support as much as hardware durability, so the best customer is someone already committed to Zwift or ROUVY.
